kilmovee ladies

As another year comes to a close, Kilmovee Shamrocks Ladies GAA club would like to acknowledge all those to helped-out with the underage football during 2007, trainers, parents, senior players, those who cleaned the jerseys, sponsors and supporters. We would also like to thank Ballaghaderreen GAA club for the use of their facilities for games and blitzes throughout the year. Our sincere thanks are also offered to Kilmovee Bingo for their generous donation, which will fund much needed jerseys for the players.

Congratulations to our senior players Michelle Kelly, Sarah Tyrell, Lisa Cafferky and Elaine Duffy who represented the club on the Mayo Ladies panel. We look forward to following your progress again next year. Congratulations to all the underage players who received awards at the recent end of year party. We were honoured and delighted to have Cora Staunton present to make these awards. In a short speech she stressed the importance of enjoying the game, making friends and respecting all involved, trainers, players and officials alike. A new award was introduced this year. Young Club Player of the Year, which is a perpetual shield sponsored by Duffys Supervalu Ballaghaderreen, that was presented this year to Amy Horan.

Well done to the U-21 and Minor Shamrock men in their County success.
We have joined up again with Kilmovee Shamrocks GAA Club in the Annual Presentation Dinner Dance. Which will take place Sat 29th Dec, The Park Hotel Kiltimagh. We would like to encourage senior players, trainers, parents of all age groups and supporters to attend. Tickets are €30, and can be gotten from Geraldine Giblin (087-9269073) or the Four Ways Pub, Kilmovee. We look forward to seeing new and old faces early next year as we prepare for a new season.


Ballaghaderreen Golf Club

The annual Mass for Deceased members of the Club was celebrated in the Clubhouse by Fr. Leo Henry with a good turnout of members despite the dreadful weather conditions. The Annual General Meeting of the Parent Club followed, resulting in the following Officers and Committee being appointed for the 2008 Season.

Chairman - Dermot Neilan,
Vice Chairman - David Wright,
Hon Secretary - Pat Coen,
Hon Treasurer - Paul McLoughlin,
Recorder - Peggy McGreevy.

The appointments of the Club Captains and Presidents were ratified -
Gentlemens President - John Frain,
Lady President - Mary Sharkey, Gentlemens Captain - Tom Kiernan,
Lady Captain - Mai Spelman,
Gentlemen's Vice Captain - Gerry Cooney.
Lady Vice Captain - to be advised.
P J Kilcullen was appointed Acting Course Manager. The Committee was completed by the following nominations;- J. Murphy, Lisa Kiernan, Jim O'Kelly and Maureen Kane.
In recognition of their many years of service to the club Eugene Madden and Kevin Lynch were awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Club. Peggy McGreevys co-option during the year as a Trustee of the Club was ratified by the meeting.

The Chairman for 2008, Dermot Nielan invited all members of the club to participate in the Clubs Annual Dinner in Durkins, The Square Ballaghaderreen on Saturday 8th December, where remaining Prizes for 2007 will be presented and a very jolly night for all is expected.

The Annual General Meeting of The Men's Club at Ballaghaderreen was held on Friday 23rd November where the following Officers were elected.

Gentleman's Vice Captain - Gerry Cooney
Hon Secretary Men's Club - Pat Coen
Hon Treasurer Men's Club - Eugene Madden

The AGM of the Ladies Club was held on Tuesday 13th November where the following Officers were elected.

Ladies Captain - Mai Spelman
Hon Secretary Ladies Club - Noreen Dolan
Hon Treasurer Ladies Club - Mary Sharkey
Handicap Secretary - Maura Cawley
Competition Secretaries - Peggy McGreevy & Ann Meagher

The AGM of the Parent Club will be held next Friday Nov 30th commencing with a Mass for deceased members at 7.30pm in the Clubhouse.

The Annual Dinner of the Club will take place in Durkins in the Square, Ballaghaderreen, on Saturday December 8th where the presentation of the remaining competition prizes of the year will take place. A good night for all is contemplated.
