The Annual General Meetings of the Club held during the last 2 weeks of November elected the following members to serve during 2009. The newly elected Captains, Gerard Cooney and Mary Wright took the opportunity of the Christmas Scramble to drive themselves into office for 2009. Some 18 members braved the arctic conditions to join in the celebratory Scramble, which followed and was won convincingly by a team comprising Jackie Henry, Maura Cawley, and John Murphy. In second place were Christine Murphy, John Dolan and Mark Davern and everyone enjoyed a seasonal mince pie washed down with a glass of mulled wine. Both Captains urged more people from the Ballaghaderreen and Frenchpark areas to appreciate the fabulous facility, which is Ballaghaderreen Golf Club, and to take up the sport in 2009. Both Captains had started playing Golf in the last 6 years and had discovered it to be a most satisfying pastime providing wonderful exercise and a most rewarding companionship from one's fellow players. Meanwhile, have a super Christmas and be up and running on the first tee in 2009!
