FLEMING'S FINAL FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT Ballaghaderreen's Sean Fleming makes his final appearance as an Irish U-21 at the 4 Nation Youth Friendship Trophy Tournament in Dublin this weekend May 22-24th
. It is Sean's seventh successive year involved in this 15-a-side event, which sees the best young players England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Rep. of Ireland going head to head for the three-day fest. This year sees the Irish team field a very strong team with players from 9 counties. Along with Sean, Roscommon will have four other representatives. Ballinaheglish's David Concannon, Mark Finneran, Thomas and Gary Concannon have all played for Ireland at Youth or U-21 level. They are all wished every success. A number of players, who participated in this event in the past, have played in recent World Championships including Northern Ireland's Darly Gurney (Lakeside 2009). Also Kildare's Shane O Connor at the Alexandra Palace (2009) and England's Kirk Shepherd World Final Runner up in 2008. TIMETABLE FOR THE YOUTH FRIENDSHIP TROPHY. GREEN ISLE HOTEL, NAAS RD. THE CONNAUGHTS Creaton's run in The Connaught Darts Championships came to an end with a quarterfinal defeat to Reid's of Newport last Monday night in Walsh's, Charlestown. The Loughglynn team were last year’s runners up. Creaton's took the opening game and led 2-1 at the break. But Reid's, winners from 2002-2007, started the singles well and ended up 5-3 winners.
