BALLAGHADERREEN TIDY TOWNS
On 19th January, the active Tidy Towns Committee met with representatives from Roscommon County Council, Roscommon CEB and Roscommon Environment Office. An area of immediate concern for the committee is the recycling area at the bottle bank. Roscommon Environment Office is taking responsibility for this area and a name and shame process is being implemented. Fines will be imposed on those caught for illegally dumping in this area. Derelict and rundown buildings are also a concern and the committee would ask owners to take responsibility for their own buildings with regard to cleaning and painting. A Tidy Towns Schools Competition is currently in progress and all entries must be submitted by Friday 16th February. The committee hope to hold a public meeting sometime in March and further details will be issued at a later date.
