CHANGES TO THE BALLAGH ADVERTISER?

Since its beginning in December 2006, the Ballagh Advertiser has provided a voice to Ballaghaderreen and its surrounding areas featuring news, sports, entertainment and local opinions. We have generated a few laughs, a tad of controversy and debates galore.

With the present economic climate businesses are finding it more and more difficult to allocate and spend money on advertising. This, unfortunately, is the Ballagh Advertiser’s means of survival – we depend on advertising to continue the publication. Therefore, after much consideration, we have decided that next month’s edition of the Ballagh Advertiser will be the final monthly edition of the publication. But it will not be the last you’ll hear of us!! We are considering keeping the old dog alive by introducing a quarterly edition to highlight special occasions such as Christmas and St Patrick’s Day. If you have any suggestions please feel free to e-mail us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Advertiser. Thank you to all our faithful contributors: Micky McCormack, the Bored Bard, Brid Duffy, Mary Gallagher, Martin Fleming, Harry Frain, Con Moynihan, Jim O’Kelly, Noel D. Walsh and David Wright. And to all of you who have, in the past, contributed tit bits, articles and reviews to our publication as well as the gallons and gallons of photos you have submitted.

Not forgetting a thank you to all the staff here at the Advertiser – the designer (especially for your movie reviews and stunning puns), printer, finisher and our old faithful delivery guys.

Finally, a big thanks to all the customers who have advertised with us since our first edition in December 2006. It is your support that has enabled the Advertiser to become so successful over the last number of years.

We will continue to keep the Advertiser website (www.ballaghadvertiser.com) regularly updated for you, our readers, as well as developing this site further in the coming months Finally, if you have any suggestions regarding the Advertiser and future editions, please e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
