North West Roscommon CDP Ltd supported the International 16 Days of Action Campaign, which opposes violence against women by staging an exhibition of 146 pairs of shoes at the retail units, Supervalu, Ballaghaderreen. The exhibition ran from November 25th for 16 days and drew attention from passers by who stopped to find out what the shoe display was about.

Each of the 146 pairs of shoes was displayed with a name for each of the 146 women who have died from domestic violence in Ireland since 1995. The shoes were donated by supporters of the campaign against domestic violence. On 10 December, a candlelit closing ceremony was conducted at the exhibition site and Patricia Madden, North West Roscommon CDP, opened the ceremony and welcomed the members of the public who attended. The staff of North West Roscommon CDP read out the names of the 146 women who were remembered on this solemn occasion and read out poems written by survivors of domestic violence. Refreshments were provided after the ceremony before the staff of North West Roscommon CDP began the task of packing up the exhibition and donating the shoes to The Hospice Shop, Swinford.
