I am, at present, researching the history of St. Nathy’s College and would like, first of all, to sincerely thank all those who have come forward with a wealth of information and photographs. It is obvious that St. Nathy’s has survived the last two hundred years due to the generous benevolence of the people of the Achonry Diocese.
Research for a project such as this is a never-ending story and it would be much appreciated if over Christmas, especially when visiting friends, the topic of St. Nathy’s history could come up and the memory attics opened. EVERYTHING is important. At the moment, I am concentrating my research on the following: • Mr. O’Regan – the first known lay principal known to us in the 1800-1830 era. • Bishop Morrisroe – any information but, specifically, the 1911 photograph when he was consecrated Bishop of Achonry. • Matron Harris and any of the ladies of the Domestic/Household Management staff. • Information and photographs of principals of the college throughout its history. • Old newspaper cuttings referring to the college. • Programmes of plays, specifically Julius Caesar, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice as well as modern productions. • Copybooks from the 1920s, 1930s and the war years. All items will be kept safe, returned to their owners and credited in the book. Please contact Xandra Kilduff on 094 9860010 or 087 7871901. |
